FAQ

1) What is the advantage of taking the Montessori training?

Montessori Method is a way of enabling a child to be independent by encouraging him to learn on his own. This is done by identifying a child’s talent and interests and also identifying his potential and ability to learn. This course is useful and helpful to all those who believe in imparting quality education to children and also to those who believe in introducing innovative and fun ways in learning rather than monotonous lectures so as to augment the interests of a child.

2) Why is IIMS the best place to take this training?
IIMS is the only institution in India which offers training for both preprimary and primary. The institute provides the experience and expertise required to assist you in successfully running or working in an institution, be it a play home or a school.

3) Does your course have Recognition from the government?
No, we do not have recognition, but we hope to get it some day.

4) How is it that your course is not recognized when institutions offering similar courses claim that they have recognition from the government?
Recognition for any teacher training was given by the Government or by the Universities for quite some time. Now, it can only be given by National Council of Teacher Education, India. This is an autonomous body created by the Gazette of 1995. Even the Government Institutions have to come under it. When a course does not come under the standard courses offered by the Government, (i.e few institutions have adopted their own innovative methods of teaching), getting recognition is a tedious and time consuming process.

5) How do I know if a course is recognized by the government?
To check whether an institution is recognized by the Government, please look up in their website, NCTE-India.org.

6) What about International validity?
We provide a certification which does not ensure international validity, but some of our students have got jobs abroad. A lot depends on the way the student performs in the interviews, and later on in the class.

To be on par with the teachers there, you may have to get a local certification. This is a standard practice followed in any country

7) Are there any other career options other than teaching after the completion of the course?
There are myriad career opportunities apart from teaching, such as working in an NGO, creating teaching materials or one can even branch into special education, one needs to think outside the box.

8) Do you not have an on line course or a correspondence course?
No, Montessori method depends very much on complex manipulations of many materials and specific method of giving oral lessons. Trainees have to present each lesson to us, get the feed back and modify it accordingly. It is impossible to give them through either methods.

As an important part of the course, trainees after getting their lessons, have to present each lesson to us, get the feed back and modify it accordingly.

9) Do you have short term courses?
Our full time course is the shortest possible one, for the vast content cannot be absorbed in any other time frame. The only way one can do it is through reducing the content. We are not prepared to do that.

MONTESSORI PRIMARY TRAINING

MODULE 1 - THEORY AND INTRODUCTIONS

National Education Policy 2020 has moved the education of children from 6 to 8 years from the Primary to the pre-school category. The training offered by Indian Institute for Montessori Studies (IIMS) matches this change, though we are still retaining the name. Learn to help the children of this age develop through our Montessori Primary training.

IIMS is announcing a new version of its blended program.

The training will consist of two parts:

1. Theory and some presentations delivered through online sessions.

2. Practicum with materials and face-to-face sessions.

There will also be an orientation to the Pre-Primary Montessori Method to help bridge the knowledge of both groups of children.

We welcome all those interested in helping children develop.
